Sluit je aan bij het verzet, help het land van de Lutkemeer te beschermen!
Op 20 juni heeft de gemeente Amsterdam een klimaatnoodtoestand uitgeroepen. Maar tot nu toe heeft de gemeente Amsterdam tegen deze verklaring gehandeld.
Op zaterdag 31 augustus is de actiegroep Squash neergestreken in de Lutkemeerpolder, een zeldzaam vitaal stuk vruchtbare kleigrond. Dit land fungeert als een koolstofopslag, vooral als het land door de boeren op een biologische manier wordt gebruikt: wat de Boterbloem boerderij al 20 jaar doet. Het is perfect om de Amsterdamse voedselketens in te korten en de stad naar een groenere en klimaatneutrale stad te leiden.
Amsterdam en Schiphol Area Development Company willen deze grond echter onder beton begraven, zodat particuliere bedrijven winst kunnen maken met land dat toebehoort aan de mensen. Ondanks alle voordelen die de Lutkemeerpolder voor Amsterdam en haar inwoners met zich meebrengt, wordt de Lutkemeerpolder op maandag 2 september ontruimd. De boeren verzetten zich al jaren tevergeefs tegen deze vernietiging. Erger nog, de afgelopen maanden zijn ze geïntimideerd en bedrogen door het stadsbestuur.
Dit is onaanvaardbaar.
Dus hier zijn we dan: Een dag voordat GEM BV, het bedrijf dat dit land heeft gekocht, het land - en alles wat er op groeit - komt bedekken met zand.
Als het eenmaal met zand bedekt is, is de strijd voorbij.
Wij zijn hier om hun vernietiging de grond in te behoren (in het Engels: to SQUASH). Om de gemeenschap te beschermen die de laatste vijf maanden een mooie weerstand heeft ontwikkeld: biologische maïs, wortelen, vriendschap en vastberadenheid.
We zullen hier voedsel blijven verbouwen.
We zullen dit verzet laten groeien.
Vanaf dit moment tot het moment dat de gemeente haar werk doet, zullen we deze ruimte beschermen, voor de stad, voor de boeren en voor de toekomst.
Geen vernietiging van vruchtbare grond meer te midden van een klimaatramp.
Geen winst meer voor de mensen en de planeet.

Actieconsensus
1. Als groep hebben wij, SQUASH, besloten dat wij ons lichaam en onze aanwezigheid zullen gebruiken om de vernietiging van de Lutkemeerpolder te blokkeren. 2. Squash zal niet toestaan dat GEM BV dergelijke vitale grond voor speculatieve winsten weggooit. 3. Aangezien deze gemeenschap wordt gebouwd om dit land te verdedigen verwachten wij dat iedereen die zich bij ons aansluit het land respecteert en er zorg voor draagt. 4. Squash zal zich vreedzaam verzetten, hoewel we een verscheidenheid aan tactieken ondersteunen. 5. We streven naar een wereld zonder onderdrukking in al zijn vormen en daarom streven we ernaar om een gemeenschapsruimte te creëren die ieder individu waardeert en ons allen aanmoedigt om naar onze inherente vooroordelen te kijken en ons bezig te houden met het leren ze te overwinnen. Zolang er geen rechtvaardigheid is, is er geen vrijheid.
Iedereen die dit verzet tegen de belangen van de staat en het bedrijfsleven, dat ons steeds dieper in de klimaatnoodtoestand brengt, wil laten groeien, is welkom.

On August 31st the action group SQUASH began a land occupation in the Lutkemeerpolder to halt construction, which is set to begin Septmember 2nd at 7am. Bring your sleeping bag, your skills, and any building materials you can to help us fortify the occupation starting now.

On June 20th the city of Amsterdam declared a climate emergency. So far, they have acted directly against this declaration. The Lutkemeerpolder is a perfect example of this. This is a vital piece of rare, fertile clay soil. This land functions as a carbon sink, especially when the land is used by farmers organically: which the Boterbloem Boerderij has done for 20 years. It is perfect for shortening Amsterdam's food chains and moving the city towards becoming more green and climate neutral.
However, Amsterdam and Schiphol Area Development Company want to bury this land under concrete, so private companies can make a profit off of land that belongs to the people. Despite all the benefits that the Lutkemeerpolder brings to Amsterdam and its people, it will be evicted on Monday the 2th of September. Already for years, the farmers have been resisting this destruction to no avail. Even worse, in the previous months they have been intimidated and deceived by the city.
This is unacceptable.
So here we are: One day before GEM BV, the company that bought this land, will come and cover it - and everything that grows on it - with sand.
Once it is covered, the fight is over.
We are here to SQUASH their destruction.
To protect the community that, in the last five months, has grown a beautiful resistance: organic corn, carrots, comradery, and determination.
We will continue to grow food here.
We will continue to grow this resistance.
From this moment until the moment the municipality does its job, we will protect this space, for the city, for the farmers, and for the future.
No more destruction of fertile land in the middle of a climate catastrophe.
No more profits before people and planet.

1. As a group we, SQUASH, have decided that we will use our bodies and our presence to block the destruction of the Lutkemeerpolder 2. Squash will not allow GEM BV to throw away such vital soil for speculated profits. 3. Since this community is being built to defend this land we expect that any who join us respect the land and take care of it. 4. Squash will practice peaceful resistance, although we support a diversity of tactics. 5. We strive for a world free of oppression in all its forms and therefore aim to create a community space that values every individual and encourages us all to look at our inherent biases and engage with learning and moving past them. Until there is equity there is no freedom.
Everyone who wants to grow this resistance against state and corporate interests leading us ever deeper into the climate emergency, is welcome.
